PALAVRAS DEITADAS AO CORPO

'Palavras Deitadas ao Corpo' is a nomadic, community-based artistic project that unfolds across three continents:Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
Since its inception in 2023, the project has developed an international network of collaborations, establishing partnerships in sevencountries and marking

three years of continuous artistic and social engagement.
 
Conceived and directed by Teresa Manjua, the project emerged from the conviction that equitable access to the arts is a fundamental right rather than a privilege.

Responding to the urgent need for greater cultural accessibility, Words Resting on the Body works in territories where artistic opportunities and cultural resources

often limited, creating spaces for dialogue, collective creation, and meaningful cultural exchange.

Through participatory artistic practices, the project brings together local communities, local artists, and neurodivergent artists, fostering inclusive environments where
diverse perspectives are valued and shared authorship becomes an essential part of the creative process. Rather than presenting art to communities, each edition is
developed with them, responding to the cultural, social, and geographical context of each location.

At its core, Words Resting on the Body understands art as a catalyst for social connection, inclusion, and cultural transformation. By encouraging long-term collaborations
and intercultural dialogue, the project celebrates local knowledge while building bridges between communities across continents.

The project is supported by DGArtes, Centro Nacional de Cultura, Arte Institute, OEI (Organization of Ibero-American States), CoffeePaste, and Jornal Barlavento.
